Mareana builds intelligent software catering to the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. These sectors face immense complexity. Data is siloed. Manufacturing workflows are ultra-intricate. Regulatory compliance is super-strict.
The goal of Mareana’s AI-powered solutions is to completely handle these issues. By linking different data sources, simplifying manufacturing, and meeting regulations, they help life sciences companies make informed decisions with confidence.
Their existing website was functional. But it didn’t fully reflect the cutting-edge nature of their technology, or their tech’s importance in two critical fields. It needed a visual refresh to match their status as an industry leader.
The website also needed continuous upkeep and strategic design enhancements to keep pace with its impressive innovation.
Goal of the Project
Mareana engaged us for reliable website maintenance and a strategic design refresh, including targeted landing pages—without disrupting the familiar user experience their audience had trusted for years.
Our strategic goals were to:
- Ensure Rock-Solid Stability: Provide continuous maintenance. Maintenance that would guarantee the site’s performance. Its security. And its functionality as the business evolved. The site had to have zero downtime during these updates.
- Execute a Seamless Rebrand: Carefully introduce an updated visual identity. The refresh had to elevate the site’s aesthetic. But it couldn’t disrupt the familiar layouts and navigation system Mareana’s users already knew. Modern palette. Sharper typography. But, same structure.
- Deliver High-Impact Custom Designs: Create custom components and new landing pages. These assets needed to align perfectly with the refreshed brand. They had to be custom-engineered to boost user engagement for specific marketing campaigns.
The goal was to make a decent website great. More engaging. More effective at drawing organic traffic from marketing campaigns. And more aligned with the company’s status as an industry leader for delivering sophisticated pharmaceutical and biotech AI solutions.
Challenges
Enhancing a live, high-traffic corporate website presents numerous unique challenges. Our work had to be precise. It had to be invisible to the end-user.
We had to navigate these major obstacles:
The Zero-Downtime Mandate:
- The website is a critical business asset. All maintenance, updates, and design integrations had to be deployed without disrupting the live site. Performance could not dip whatsoever. On top of that, pharma clients demanded 24/7 access to the site.
The “Do No Harm” Design Mandate:
- To implement a brand refresh without alienating users, we introduced a modern look while preserving familiar navigation and user flow. The improvements should help, not interrupt, so users can keep using the system without any trouble or big changes.
The Integration Puzzle:
- We had to make sure the new custom pages and designs fit perfectly with the existing system, including the backend, CMS, and site layout.Every element needed to feel native, requiring deep analysis of the site’s architecture to ensure consistency and cohesion throughout the experience.
We had to perform open-heart surgery on a live platform. The outcome had to be a healthier, more vibrant patient without any scars.
Our Approach

Discover: Analyzing the Digital Blueprint
We began by conducting a thorough audit of the existing Mareana website. We analyzed its structure. The user pathways. The content hierarchy. The technical framework.
This analysis helped us understand what worked well for the existing site. It helped us discover where the opportunities for visual and functional enhancement lay.
It also helped us set up our initial maintenance plans:
- Staged Rollouts: Targeted CSS upgrades had to be deployed in off-peak hours
- Performance Monitoring: We had to set up real-time alerts for load spikes
- Security Patches: We had to perform routine vulnerability scans of the site’s underlying code

Define: A Refined and Professional Design Language
We began by studying Mareana’s established visual identity—professional, clean, and corporate. The goal wasn’t to change everything, but to improve what was already there. The main color stayed deep blue, but we added a fresh, bright blue—“Action Teal”—to draw attention to key features and links. The font was changed to a simpler, cleaner style to improve readability and make the site feel more up-to-date.
To make Mareana’s complex tools easier to understand, we made custom icons with a 3D look and added line-art images for abstract topics like “Batch Genealogy.” The design stayed organized and spacious, using simple lines and card-style blocks that look good on phones and make detailed info easier to understand.
Design Highlights

Our design solutions were implemented surgically. Each change we made enhanced the user experience without causing any disruption. Here are the strategic enhancements and new, targeted assets we delivered:
- We created high-converting, targeted landing pages—each custom-designed for specific campaigns. Pages promoting Mareana’s VSM featured tailored CTAs and product-specific funnels, all optimized to engage supply chain leads and maximize conversions.
- Fully responsive web design elements. The refreshed website is now delivering stellar experiences on every device. All webpages auto-adapt for mobile researchers. The new color palette and typography look perfect on every screen.
- A series of custom-designed and developed website components. New interactive data visualization widgets. Fast-loading HD GIFs showing pharmaceutical and biotech software specialists in action. Dynamic call-to-action blocks in key areas of the website.
All of these new, custom elements increased engagement. For instance, in every blog post that discussed fixing clients’ data silos or compliance issues, we added custom CTAs that led users to sign up for Mareana’s CPV (cutting-edge SaaS product from the firm).
The teamwork turned out better than we thought. The website still has its old charm but is now more modern, fun, and easy to use.

Final Product Showcase
Our team continues to provide ongoing design and performance maintenance for Mareana’s website. We are actively monitoring the performance of the new landing pages. We’re using A/B testing to further optimize conversion rates.
The refreshed design system is now being applied to all new marketing collateral. We are working on designing a new “Resources” hub for the site. This hub will feature more SEO-optimized white papers, case studies, and webinars.
Future design work will focus on creating more interactive data visualizations to better explain their complex AI solutions for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
